Thanks for the henson l/up. Only check registers if you have them out - it would be nice to see witnesses as they are often brothers or sisters but no urgency. One thing - is it Shepshed or Sheepshed?

Greeting’s & Welcome Lorraine…….
Nothing showing up……… just yet
Having tracked him back 81. through to 61.
Just wonder why his surname changed on the 1871.Census To..... Robinson ~ Welsh ?
If his Father was a Soldier then I need to checkout the Parish Registers for St. Mary’s which the Barracks came under. Unfortunately my St. Mary’s Baptism resources only go up to 1820. So it’s down to a Records Office search sometime this week. I’ll report back on this thread which ever way it goes.

Hi Mike
I am trying to find David Robinson born in Leicester in approx 1827. From his marriage certificate to Jane Bradley 21/8/1848 in Parish Church, Dewsbury, York it says his father is John Robinson and that he is a soldier. David is down as a traveller. I have been unable to locate a baptism for him. There are two David Robinsons born this year in Leicester. For information he was blind in one eye and on the 1881 census he is down as blind and a photographer!!!
Would appreciate any help.
Thanks.
Lorraine

Greeting’s & Welcome Jan……
There you Go. ….
From my Marriage Index disk. ……. John HENSON.~ Maria HARRIS. 15th. September. 1818. St. Botolph Parish Church. Shepshed. By Banns. Via I.G.I Batch Numbers :~
They have it down as HANSON or Henson.
* NOTE * year 1818. not 1815. Do you wish me to have a look at the original Registers at the Records Office. ? This will give us the Wit’s names But seeing the date then I doubt if ages will be given.

Re:~ Wit’s at St.Margaret’s Church. Richard Stringer :~ Was the Son of Thomas Stringer the Church Sextant. Richard was a Church Warren. James Twelvetricks. Could this be James TWELTRIDGE. ?
I’ll still have a look at the original Registers here at the Records Office.for any extra clues.

Greeting’s Again Tina…….
We need the date of Benjamin ~ Ann's Marriage to be able to see which came first Sarah or Ann.
Burial record for Gaddesby Might belong to Benjamin & Ann / Sarah? CANT MARY 4 May 1821 Aged. 13 Wks Abode Leicester
I have asked a colleague from another genealogy site Who has a better resources for Rutland than I have For help with Benjamin’s Baptism.
Re Benjamin marring quickly ? If his first wife has passed on then there should be no reason why he could not remarry.

Greeting’s Tina…..
Using the resources I have to hand…….. I’m afraid nothing is showing up to match your given details. Plenty of evidences of Cant Families within Uppingham But no Baptisms with a Joseph has Father .
My Index Marriage disk confirms that Benjamin did in deed marry Ann Tweltridge 1819. But unfortunately my early Parish Marriages for Gaddesby only goes up to 1812….So snookered there….Grrr.
There was another Marriage in 1819. for a Benjamin Cant. ?
Benjamin Cant. ~ Sarah DALBY. 4th. October. 1819. St. Margaret’s Parish Church. Leicester. By Banns.
But did spot this marriage which could give you the Parents of Ann ?
St. Luke’s Parish Church. Gaddesby.
Thomas TWELTRIDGE.~ Sarah BAILY. Both of this Parish. 21st.January. 1788. By Banns.
So……… with your permission. I can but have a look at all the Pariah Registers mentioned. for you next week at the Records Office. Then report back on this tread.
MIKE.
