Hello again Mike, thanks ever so much for going to the trouble of looking for me. I am still under the impression that maybe Elizabeth's name wasn't Norwich, but maybe something similar as there doesn't seem to be many Norwich's listed on any census. If you have time would you be able to do another lookup for me? Lucy Fisher and Henry Halford married in 1893 in Leicester, I have their son Harry Hardwick Halford's birth cert from 1899 and Henry is also down as Harry. In 1901 Lucy is living with her parents and children, but no sign of Henry/Harry Halford, her husband. Would you be able to look up the marriage cert if possible and find out how old he is and who his father is? Thanks again, James |

OK, we've got our travel plans organised, so we'll be arriving on 26/8 and leaving on 5/9. We shall be in Birmingham on 2/9, but apart from that we'll mainly be in Leics. Anyone else interested in a mini-meet, possibly in the Rothley area? So far it's me, Jane in Loughborough and Elaine Stephens. Mike, what about you? |

Hi Mike, I am so sorry! I did mean to put Robert, not Richard. I believe Robert married a Elizabeth Norwich in 1842, although I can not find a sign of a Elizabeth Norwich or anything similar on the 1841 census. There are 2 possibles for Robert in 1841 and neither is with parents. I do think that the William and Frances you mentioned could be the parents. Do they have a son called Robert to your knowledge? Thanks again for all your help (I'm still very new to this!) James |

Hi Elaine, You're not invading at all! I addressed my message to Jane as she asked when we were coming over. Anybody else interested in a Leicestershire mini-meet? As soon as I've got my holiday dates sorted out, I'll post them here. |

Hello Mary Has been a while since we spoke (mainly on the other side!) I am in Nottingham but visited Rothley for many years when my great aunts lived there. I wondered about a mini meet too if you don't mind me invading although it does partly cover my holiday so I will be heading the opposite way 30th Aug Elaine |

Hi Jane, We shall probably be over during the last week of August and first week of September. I know the villages quite well (I went to school in Quorn), so I shall mainly be looking at cemeteries, apart from the Record Office. I had no idea when I lived in Birstall that we had ancestors in Rothley, Quorn, Barrow and Woodthorp - I thought they were all in the city of Leicester. We apparently had one ancestor who ended up as a beadsman at Cave's Charity House in Barrow, which I'd like to have a look at, and I want to have a look at headstones in Quorn and Rothley cemeteries. Do you want to meet up for coffee one day when we're in the area? |

Hi Gemma (and Mike), Not sure if this has already been mentioned, but there are lots of pre-1837 Baptist records for Leicestershire online, including Loughborough: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb*com/~blanchec/EMidBaps.htm (replace asterisk with dot) Can't see George Whitehead, but there are several other Whiteheads. |

Hi Mary from Italy, wow, bet you're soooooo excited about your trip ....... we'll keep hold of the good weather for you, been quite warm recently, well for here anyway, lol. Are you just visiting the villages, or doing the cemetery / church searches too? think you'll be fine in Rothley, it really has calmed down there in the last few weeks, well you wouldn't believe the amount of people that stop & look closely at my 3 yr old blonde neice, who live in Mountsorrel, inbetween Quorn & Rothley !! let us know when you are coming over won't you........ |

Hi Mike This is Gemma O' Canada again!!! I just wondered if you had had a chance to see if my George Whitehead appeared on any other records? I think that you said that you were going to try to locate him elsewhere as he had not shown up where you had been looking. My apologies if I have got the wrong end of the stick on this one!!! Thanks again for all your help Gemma. :-) |

It looks as though I may be able to get over to England this summer for the first time since I started my tree. The main place I want to go is Lichfield, but I shall also have to plan trips to the Records Office at Wigston, Welford Road Cemetery, Quorn, Woodthorpe and Barrow, and I'm hoping that the lady who keeps the Rothley Baptist registers will be free too. I hope Rothley isn't overrun with journalists at the moment... |

That's very kind of you, Maggie, but I know St. Margaret's very well. I was brought up near Leicester, and my parents were married at St. Margaret's. Mind you, I must admit that I've spent more time at St. Margaret's bus station than the church over the years. Actually I'd always wondered why my mother's family always went to St. Margaret's when they lived right the other end of town - Fosse Road South and Hinckley Road. Then when I started researching my tree I found that the Pools (her father's ancestors) had lived in that area since at least 1841. |
