For Mary from Italy I did indeed place a message on this board on 26 Jun 2006 stating that Elizabeth originating from Pickwell was not part of my tree, I also said that Amos's death was listed in Dec qtr of 1865. I have rechecked for the death details of Amos but can find no record of it,I am baffled as to where the details were seen. I will have a stiff whiskey and give it some thought. Jon O'Kent |

Thanks, John - isn't it odd? It'd be surprising if he died in 1865 as they were only married on 25/12/65, but I suppose it's possible. I believe Elizabeth herself was born in Leicester (she was christened at St. Margaret's), but her father William was from Pickwell. |

Mike, Just wondering.... Is there such a thing as an idiot's guide to finding your way round the RO? Hoping I will get there to dig up some of my supposed non-conformist Butlers (once I can finally get rid of the builders) but wouldn't have a clue as to where to start!! New one on the builder front - in yesterday's heavy rain, new drain that is thought to be blocked was in full flood - came downstairs to find water coming under the walls of foundationless house!!!!!! Sitting room floor awash - luckily not carpeted!! Hubby seems to think that sorting builders (and leak) takes higher priority than trip to record office - can't think why - can you?? ;-))))) Maggie (in wellies!!) |

* Wearing Snorkel & Flippers…& in Muffled voice * Greeting’s Again Maggie…. The nonconformist Index’s to the records are in search room No.2. Hard copies are in the strong room, which need ordering via the desk. But some have been scanned onto fiches & Micro Film. Which are in search room No.1. Once you have found which system they are in then It’s plain sailing from there ( Whoops sorry for the pun there) ….. The Micro Film can be a bit of a bind they are not in date order on the film also some times there is not a heading of which Chapel it is. ……… Sorry to hear that the “ Indoor Lido in Houghton.” is having difficulties…… Maybe it would have been easier to have made this a project for your Cubs & Scouts to achieve their D.I.Y. Badge. ? Or in your case the ' Survival Badge.' ? MIKE. xxx |

I am looking for a baptism for a William Branson, born Fleckney around 1815 and his parents. His daughter Elizabeth married an Eli Wright but no marriage found. Eli was in Leicester in 1871 (was born Northants) and in 1881 they were in Croydon, married. Two brickwalls! Jackie |
