Greetings again Mike I am eager to identify the birth parents of ANN TOMKINS b c1818-1822. (not the ANN TOMKINS daughter of Samuel and Elizabeth b1819). The ANN I am seeking was the unmarried mother of several children she is shown with different PARTNERS on the 1861/71 Census. Many thanks Jon O'Kent |

Sorry, sj, I can't quite see what the problem is. So far as I can see, Mike's always unfailingly polite to everyone on the Leicestershire threads, and he does an amazing job with numerous look-ups. I can't see any post where he's been rude to you. |

Mike, thank you so much for looking up William and Hannah's marriage at the Record Office - I'm really grateful, and I didn't expect that at all. Thanks again Rosemary |

Thanks very much for those Poole baptisms, Mike. It looks as though that Thomas bap. 1837 may be a second Thomas born to my Joseph and Hannah after the first one died. No idea who Thomas and Harriet Pool are, but in view of the Thornton Lane address, they may well be connected with my lot. Probably cousins of some kind, but so far I haven't found any siblings for Joseph's father Richard. Thanks for the Record Office details - I hadn't realised 27/8 was a bank holiday, so I might have gone for nothing. Nice to hear that you might be able to come to a meet - I'll post a separate message about it. |

Suggested mini-meet: How would 28th or 29th August suit everyone who's interested? 27th would be OK with me, but I imagine most people will already have plans for the bank holiday. Elaine's going away on the 30th, which is why I didn't suggest a later date. What sort of time do you prefer? Does anyone have any suggestions for a venue? Possible attendees so far: Mary from Italy Jane from Loughborough Elaine Stephens Mike from Leicester. |

Mary, i can't do 28th or 29th i'm afraid, would only be available on the bank holiday Monday......... but wont be offended if the majority can't do Monday, lol Sj would you mind removing those comments please! i don't get involved in any arguments on here, but feel very strongly about this one. Don't think Mike deserves comments like that after all he has done for you.... he has spent many hours trawling through his discs and gave up his time at the record office for you, but you keep asking the same questions!! i quite understand how he feels as you have done the same to me on my look up thread on Records board !! |

For anyone interested in All Saints Leicester.... Tour of Church, 10.30am, Saturday 25th August. Hoping I might find some clues to my elusive Butlers who lived in the area!! P.S. Mike, Wondering if I have found more circumstantial evidence for Thomas Edward Butler the Chemist being a cousin to my John Butler (also Chemist)?? Elizabeth Ann Norton who married John's son Edward Henry christened into Great Meeting Independent in Kettering (1828). Think have found Thomas Edward christened into Great Meeting Presbyterian in Leicester (1831). Had always though that Elizabeth and Edward met through his work as a travelling salesman, but IF he was cousin to Thomas Edward Butler (Chemist) maybe he too was connected with the Great Meeting Church in Leicester (having found no trace of his baptism anywhere else) and met Elizabeth through links between the Churches?? Or am I clutching at straws?? Would value your opinion Oh Great One!! Thanks, Maggie (who can't make Leicester meet but hopes you all have a good time!!) |
