Update

Just to let you all know what's been going on. Number of certificates were ordered and arrived - the details were posted earlier in the week.

We have now confirmed eight of Theresa Silmon (Wilson/Hayes') children - with another two as ‘strong’ possibles - awaiting confirmation.

One of the birth certs ordered proved to have no connection and the tree will be adjusted accordingly - a separate post will be made when that's complete.

We subsequently, ordered more, in order to validate a few key marriages and a death cert (hoping for a spouse or child to be the informant to give us a lead) but unfortunately they didn’t arrive as hoped (Friday) so fingers crossed for Monday (pretty please Mr Postman). Once these arrive a number of new lines of research will become apparent.

Hot Matches came through and emails sent to possible connects - will have to see what these bring. One in particular has already proved to be a positive connection, who has been able to fill in some gaps.

Postman permitting – I’ll give another update tomorrow

Thanks
Rachel

The tree has been updated with the information received from certificates plus a back log of research emails - so please take a look it now contains over 400 individuals.

I’m looking for help with some of the research currently on the table – so if you can spare us some time and have access to BDMs (GR, findmypast or what ever) from 1920s to date (well 2005) and are prepared to trawl the registers then please PM me.

Want to see the tree - then please PM me

Many thanks

Tree looking great, much easier to follow the family now!

Don't want to sound picky, but would all those people who have nudged the thread up go back and delete your nudges from time to times as it makes reading and following the thread very hard when you want to catch up with how things are going.

I'm sure others would agree with me, but I don't want to spoil any interest to this very successful thread!

Many thanks

nudging up.

I tried deleting the nudge but it sent the thread straight back to page 6 where it was.

Mummy Bear Report 15 Sep 2007 10:26

The following certificates arrived and we have now confirmed both the ancestry and descendant links.

Death Certificate

Leo Anthony Wilson

4th September 1978 - Crawley

Date & Place of Birth: 17th November 1906 Newcastle Upon Tyne
Post Office Engineer (Retired)

Name of Informant: Norman Anthony Wilson - Son

Personal details have been omitted

Wilson being a widespread surname – has been a challenge, especially when Leo’s wife surname is Brown. Leo born and married in Newcastle, died in Crawley, West Sussex; the son mentioned in the death certificate was born in London. So as you can imagine the combinations for researching this line are huge. Each quarter in the birth index has 5 or 6 pages (that’s 20-24 pages for one year!!) and when you don’t know the first name or the location it’s a trawl – but that’s what Genealogy research is all about.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Death Certificate

Norman Michael Wilson

12th October 1986 - Newcastle

Date & Place of Birth: 10th September 1910 Newcastle Upon Tyne
Businessman of Heaton, Newcastle

Name of Informant: Charles Anthony Hayes – Half Brother

Personal details have been omitted

Did Norman – marry? was he a widower (not mentioned on the cert), did he have any children; was his half brother who was living in New Milton Hampshire, some 350 miles from Newcastle his next of kin; what had happened to all his other siblings; full & half.

Still a number of unanswered question and multiple avenues to explore.

I'll post again when the tree's been updated - shortly

Thanks
Rachel

I'm having a problem uploading an updated tree, the GEDCOM goes through OK but is showing six more individuals than are in the master tree and showing some very odd relationships/connections.

Please bear with me whilst I try and sort this out
Thanks

The tree is has been updated, however, there is a more general problem with trees on here at the moment - showing some very odd relationship connections!??!?!

Others are also having the same problem - see other threads.
