The best way to start a family tree, is to write what you know down. The next step is to find a reliable old reletive and pick their brains. You should be able to get back quite a way with that. Some genealogy software is a good idea. Try the net, rootsweb is good, family search is great and has the 1881 census on line. The next step is to get birth, death and marriage certs. Which is where you start to pay. Hope some of that has been a help. Good luck! |
