Anyone who is trying to find details of relatives from scotland might like to try www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk. This site does cost money but gives you access to all the records of scotland dating back to 1554 for church records. On this site you can also print and veiw actual images of births and deaths as well as census records. For those of you who dont know the details on scottish BMDs are slightly more detailed than those in england or wales. For example the parents marriage date is given on any childrens birth certificates and death certificates give details of the parents names. (Although it has to be said these are not always correct but do provide a general starting point) This makes it much easier to trace your tree from them. |
