I've come up with a little problem in my family tree and that is different ways of spelling surnames! I'm fairly new to this and have only got back as far as the middle of the 1800s (on all branches) using the 1881 Census and the 1901 census, but the problem is that with three of the branches the surnames are spelt differently between the two censuses Glanfield and Glandfield and in the other Brimmicombe and Brimicombe and in the third Corpe and Corp. Does anyone have anyone have any advice as to how to tackle this issue? Is there an "official" approach to how to record such differences. Thanks in advance. :::nikki::: |
