Suzanne I think the ID numbers are given to members of the same household and not to individual people. e.g. Mrs & Mrs Smith and the 3 little Smiths will be given the numbers 56 to 60. If Mr Smith's mother lives with them but is visiting in the next town for the weekend she will not have the next number of 61, but a corresponding one in the household where she is on the night of the census. I could be wrong and if I am will someone let me know so that I don't put my foot in it again. I have also found that some numbers are missing in a sequence and I'd like to know why, too.
