Sarah, on your contacts page it will say who has contacted you- if by their name you click yes then they can view your tree- but otherwise they have seen the names that you have entered in your tree and have recognised them and they have contacted you to check further details, and perhaps view your tree. Likewise if you find a name that you think links in with you, click on the envelope and send a message and that person may let you see their tree if they think there is a link. Under the Data Protection Act you cant just look at files and data of living people without a good reason.So most people shouldnt allow their trees to be opened to stangers- especially if they have living peoples data there. Jill- If you can navigate this site and build a tree on here you will be fine on a genealogy package. |
