Christine Goodman I have had some luck finding maiden names by using the BMD site. I put in the male name with the likely years of marriage(usually from when the female would have been 18 to when the first child was born)and note down the dates, book and page references. Marriages usually take place in the females parish but not always. Then I search again, taking out the name and putting in the dates and reference numbers. This brings up the names of eveyone on that page and hopefully will show someone with your female relatives first name and their maiden name. I just hope you're not looking for a Smith or Jones, as there will be too many!! |
