Catherine Butterworth, the beauty of Freebmd is that it can give you more clues on your trails eg my mum suddenly remembered she had an aunt called Rosina married to a John, so I went to freebmd entered her name and surname, that's all ,and looked at the results, found a marriage entry for the district of Wandsworth where they all grew up, clicked on the page no which gave me a choice of 2 husbands but only one was called John, so I wrote down the quarter, page no, vol no, and registration no which is the information you need to order a certificate. I rang up Southport and a week later I got the certificate, where it has more clues- most importantly it gave me confirmation again of the name and occupation of my gt gt grandfather. It can give you middle names that you never knew before which can be the turning point in your research, eg when I found out that an ancestor was George Thomas, I started searching for Thomas George as well and struck lucky. Make it your friend. I am off now to Celebrate Easter.
