My father Walter Fountaine Lewis Dack b. 2/12/1918 in Tunstead Norfolk does not seem to be listed on any BDM. I have a marriage cert. which confirms his surname and age at marriage which all 'adds up' so why was he not registered. I have checked with 1837 on-line and spent many a pound trying different birth dates,[and quarters], surnames etc. Does anybody know if it is possible to find children born to a mother [name known]in a certain year? Date of birth given 2/12/18 mothers name Childerhouse [maiden name]. The surname given [Dack] but birth not recorded, was offically used on the marriage cert. I have used the CWGC and traced his mothers husband [presumably his father] and he died 1WW 18months before my father was born!!! Mystery eh? Has anyone any clues or ideas, from previous experiences, as to why he has not been registered on any birth register. Many thanks. Sandra McNally [nee Dack - well I think so!] |
