Lindsay Thompson re "living tally or in sin" The church required at least one of the couple to have lived in the parish for at least 4 weeks before the marriage, if they admitted to living in different parishes they would have to pay for 2 sets of banns, so to save money many used the same address or neighbouring houses as an accomodation address. |
