Rosi Carpenter re PHILIMORES ATLAS & INDEX OF PARISH RECORDS. This book is compliled by the Institute of Heraldry & Genealogical Studies ( IHGS ). This is a very large book containing Maps showing the ancient Parish boundaries which existed before 1832 and show the sites of churches and chapels. They are outlined in colour showing the jurisdiction of the ecclesiatical courts which administered probate and licences. They show the dates when the parish registers started in that particular parish. Notes taken from 'The Family Historians Enquire Within' book. 5th edition which is not an up to date one. Must get round to buying another! Vera, Manchester |
