Advice needed please. I applied for my GGrandmother's Birth Certificate, stating her name, Alice Owen, the year and quarter (1870 June), the Area (Manchester) and her father's name (Joseph Thomas Owen). She married on 2 November 1891 aged 21 and her father's name is Joseph Thomas Owen. I have received my cheque back today with a note saying incorrect father. When I checked my printed records, the IGI reference for her Christening (13 November 1870) her father is shown as Joseph Owen. Is it likely that the name on her birth certificate is Joseph Owen rather than Joseph Thomas Owen? I also have her mother's name (Ann Cresswell) but stupidly did not state it in my application. I cannot find any other Alice Owen on the 1837 records for the right period. Is it worth a phone call to clarify. Could one of the many experienced people suggest what I should do? Thanks in advance Lynne Sale
