Mary I don't think you need a PC emulator to search freebmd. It is probably more likely that the record you are searching is not yet available. Look at the charts which show the years for births, marriages and deaths that have been transcribed. A PC emulator is a software programme that makes you Mac behave like a PC. Hope this helps.
