Margaret Drummond I think your problem may be that from your message you seem to have broken the golden rule of research-- you should never be trying to start in the dim past and search for descendants--- always start from your parents and work backwards to find ancestors- work from the known to the unknown-- so if you don't already know, ask your parents and living relations for the details of your grandparents and great grandparents- search for certificates and Bibles etc in attics, if your grandparents were alive like mine in 1901 look for them on the census, then with that info search freebmd, 1837, familysearch etc. that way you research a step at a time, confirming details with certificates---- |
