Hi,could anyone tell me if there is a way of reducing the number of searches for a person on the 1837online website? I have the name of a relative, but (as is so often the case), what seems like hundreds appear and this could just prove too costly. I have tried the free sites, but with no luck. 1837 is my next step.

I had that problem when searching for BURNS. The name is common AND they only let me search from BAA to BZZ! I developed a 'guessing' technique, by using the 'go to page' function on the viewer you can skip forward by 50 or 100 pages (or just 2 or 3) and so it wasn't as costly as it appeared to be.
