I suggest you look in the local Library for a book called "What to do when somebody dies" It is a guide on how you proceed. If i rememeber correctly, a death can only normally be registered by a relative living in the same district or somebody living at the address. It could be that the death could not be registered in this manner, as they lived alone and all relatives lived away. Then there must be some way in which the death can be registered. Check it out. Let me what you find out. Peter

Hi there you could try Barbara Dixon's web page. I found it in a link from free bmd information page through the link on civil registration. There is some good info on civil registration, (I think she is a registrar). Any way you could email her with your question and she may know the answer. I be interested to find out the answer too. Does anyone know why a burial would be 'certified according to Act of Parliament'? I found this listed against the burial records of a husband and wife in Crediton, Devon. He was buried 20 May 1920 aged 87 and she was buried 5 Nov 1920. Is the year significant? I did post this before but got no replies. Someone must know what it means. Pleeeeeease.
