It may not be possible without duplicating the names. I have a similar problem with a lady who married her sister's widower. |

If one of your granny entries is only connected to one other person on your tree you should be able to remove her. Otherwise you may have to kill off a few relations to free her off, delete her then reinstate the others. Removals can be tricky and a couple of the trees I've access to have multiples e.g. one chap with the same partner three times and another where the husband is shown as the son. It's easy to add someone in the wrong place in error, I did it myself last week but got away with deleting one other person to free them off. I didn't fancy reconstructing a tree with 150 entries, so I was relieved when it worked. |

Thanks yet again Brian. I thought I would have to do it that way but just wondered if there was another way |

Re: deleting relatives and contacts...I find I cannot delete relatives at all - even if they do not have multiple connections. Nor can I delete from the My Contacts board. GC tell me it's probably because my browser is internet explorer 5! Frustrating, because it's SO easy to make a mistake - my tree is beginning to look like a real dog's dinner! God help anyone who has access...even I'm getting confused! |

Deirdre, Are you confirming the deletion? I used to have problems deleting until I discovered this. When you hit "Delete" it then takes you back to your home page. Now click "Back" and you will be on the confirm delete page. Click "Yes" to get rid of an embarssing mistake. Always bearing in mind that you cannot delete someone if they have dependants. You have to delete them one by one first. Hope this helps, Jim, Gosport. |

Diedre Why not upgrade your IE to 6. It's free to download from the Microsoft site, easy to install if you just follow the instructions, but downloading takes a LONG time if you do not have a broadband connection, so if you are paying for your internet connection by the minute it may be expensive in phone charges. Alternatively you can get it on disc. |
