Michelle I have a similar problem in fact I am not sure that my grandfather was born an Ives or a Clayson and his mother had a child/children before marrying my great granddad. I asked a colleague who has been doing his family tree for several years and he told me that the only way to be sure is to get the birth certificate. Malcolm |

Michelle You've got to go to your Great Grandmother's details and click on 'add a partner', put "unknown" as you don't know the name of her child's father; then remove the details of the child from her husband and allocate him or her to the unknown partner. If you have to put a year of birth, or place of birth for this person, just guess. Hope that makes sense! |

My great grandmother had a child before marrying my great grandfather. I have added the child to my tree, however, it is now showing that my great grandfather is the childs father which is incorrect. Can anybody help me as I don't know the name of the real father? |
