Hi, Has anyone any suggestions to how I can find out if my father has passed away or not? I have scanned through 10 years of death records at the FRC. My mum gave me his d.o.b.as 10/1/1911, but the only records I can find in the deaths for a GEORGE REEVES born in WEST HAM London, is 11/1/1913, and he died August 1986 :-( Any tips appreciated. thanks |

Hi Viv, Have you had sight of his marriage certificate? Your Mum could have been mistaken about your Dad's date of birth. Jim. |

I'd be interested to know when your mother was born. Did he tell her a little white lie about his age because he didn't want to be younger than she was (NOT the done thing then - the man ALWAYS had to be older than his wife!! Actually I've a friend who is 18 months older than her husband and doesn't want anybody to know, so she says she's a year younger than she really is, so to all intentes and purposes she's only six months older - but we all KNOW her true age, including her husband!! |
