Have you tried the site for the paper in question, some local papers do have some archive material on line,so you may be lucky but my feeling is that this is rare, you probably need to check with the relevant local history library, who may have copies on film, otherwise its a trip to Colindale, you can only do so much research from your keyboard, and you should always check back to the original source material anyway. |

Can someone please tell me the best way to find newspaper archives online? I have recently found out that a member of my family was famous in our little town for weight lifting and had many headlines in the papers. I have tried putting UK Newspaper Archives etc into the search engine but it's not helping as it only gives the big newspapers. The archives I am looking for are from about 1940 and the paper was probably either the Darwen Advertiser or the Telegraph. Grateful for any help.... again! |
