My greatgranma was a single parent when my grandad was born. He has no fathers name on his birth or marriage certificate. So that looks like a dead-end (excuse the pun!) It is also looking like my gran and grandad were cousins. Complicated eh!! Maggy, Featherstone, West Yorkshire |

Nick If you know your grandmother's maiden name look for another marriage after your grandfather died. She may have remarried quite soon after his death. Just thought it would be worth a try. Lynne |

I have the same problem. I have just found out that my grandfather died 15 month before my mother was born! It has to be right as the grave stone shows his year and date of death and my mothers birth details are correct. How on earth do i get round that one? Nick Cambridge |

Vivien Unless your father was registerd in the name of his birth father then it's sounds pretty impossible to me. Anyone else have any ideas? Lynne Sale CHS |

Can anyone help. I am attempting to establish the identity of my true grandfather. My grandmother - May Harding had my father, or was pregnant with him, before she married the man I knew as grandfather - Horace Saunders. I don't know where to start. I have details of my grandmother's birthdate, her parents and her siblings, but don't how to attempt to establish the true identity of my father's father. Both my grandparents, and parents are all dead now. |
