According to A Dictionary of Old Trades, and Titles and Occupations. A Cordwainer is a Shoemaker( not a Boot Maker).0riginally using Cordovan Spanish Leather. In practice, Cordwainers also made many other objects from leather (e.g. leather bottles). Good Luck. Ron. |

There is a Cordwainer's College in London. They work with leather - tack for horses, briefcases etc. None of your mass produced stuff - all hand made! |

William, According to my dictionary its a shoemaker or worker in cordovan leather, whatever that is. (Wasn't there a Benny Hill song that featured a cordwainer or am I showing my age again?) Elisabeth |
