Do you mean the page is "blank" or it doesnt find any results for your search. the site is only partially complete and they are constantly updating it. Dont give up,my great garand parents marriage has just appeared after moths of trying and I am doing well with my research. Good luck!

Clarissa If you go to the "Information" section on freebmd there are graphs which show how much of each year has been transcribed. Four million or so new records are coming on each month, so keep checking. Updates are usually around the end of each month.

Don't put in too much information to start with - usually a surname and a place will get you plenty of results. Leave the years blank.

Clarissa, I didn't get much back from Free BMD either when I was having a play with it. (The 1901 Census on line was pretty good though). As good as the on-line stuff is getting, you can't beat going down to a records office (esp. the PRO in Islington) and doing research there, far more productive and rewarding. Don't give up! J.

- dont forget that some of us have difficulty getting to record offices - our nearest has odd opening times, 5 car park spaces which you book in advance! and it's 35 mins away by car. For a trip to the PRO at Kew, we have to plan the day in advance.

Who is it you are looking for? If you post the details that you know, we will all pitch in and have a go for you and see if we can come up with anything. DON'T GIVE UP!!! I posted a message yesterday (Yipppeeeee!! Keep the Faith!) to let everyone know that there is hope. You've just got to stick at it and everyone helps you along when you get stuck.

On the user help instructions for the FreeBMD site, the comment is made, "You Should not enter both District and County values". In my experience, non-observance of this did seem to affect the answers. This could be a reason some searches give a nil return. Paul, Cheltenham

FreeBMD currently is recording data up to 1910. In April, they were given the extended date of 1983 but the earlier records are being completed first, I think. As a transcriber, I know that recording this data, for the likes of yourselves, takes quite sometime, so be patient or better still, become a transcriber yourselves and help others.
