How much does 1837 online cost exactly? I want to have a look at the records but am unsure of the costs involved? |

Basically, you pay a fiver up front and get to view 55 images (should normally be 50 but there is a ten percent FOC addition whilst they sort out initial errors). So it's 10p per image (page) viewed. The indexing, particularly for the earlier years, is rather vague so unless you know the date of the event fairly accurately to begin with you can look at quite a few images before you strike gold. |

What about Marriages. Does the records indicate both parties? Or just the one? |

For marriages, you look for one surname and it will give you the options for the pages. It gives the surnames of the married parties (- you only get the first name for the surname that you search), the district, page number etc, so you really need to know the names of both parties. For example it will have:- FUREY John Kilroy Blackburn 8e 1065 So it was John Furey and "?" Kilroy that got married. As has already been said, it is very hit and miss. I have spent 25 pounds so far. I have found quite a few dates of births but your credits soon run out unless you have a rough idea of when the event happened - the month also helps! Hope this helps. |
