Hi - again You are all so knowleadgeable that I thought I would try you with this one! My paternal Great Grandfather,Seth Allen, according to the 1861 and 1901 census, was born in France (British Subject). He gives his age as 58 in 1901 census,17 in 1861 census and 37 in 1881 census. (In 1881 census he gives his birth place as Belper but I can't find him on UK index for births so assume he put that for a reason best known to him. His Father and mother and most of his siblings came from Belper Derbys. My question is, how do I trace his birth in France (I don't have an area)? Are there any applicable sites on the Internet? Can anyone advise me on this please, I would be grateful. Ann Glos

Ive been trying the same thing myself, with no luck unfortunately. There are a few sites via cyndislist that cover France. Also on the genforum board for France there are a few tips etc. Good luck.
