The Scan2 syndicate currently only uses typed pages, so the hand writting problem does not apply. If the scan has areas that you cannot read, there are instructions of what you should do. We all have some problem but most of the scans are good. |

I to would love to have a go at transcribing but like Amanda I'm also concerned about not being able to read the writing. Not everyone can have the Images that have been typed and knowing my luck I'll be the one to get the really hard to read ones. Chris |

Sarah, Is there any minimum time commitment? I'm willing to dedicate some of my spare time but it would only amount to about 10 hours a week. Crista |

Like Caroline, I too transcribe for Scan2 syndicate. You download the scan that is allocated to you, just like anyother download from the web, and they take approx 1-1.5 hours to transcribe. Full instructions are given once you have signed up. If I can do it, anyone can. The Scan2 syndicate has members worldwide - with the Web there are no boundaries. |

Have just joined myself and find it most therapeutic and rewarding to be able to put something back into the project - after all it has been highly beneficial to me in the past. Don't worry guys - there's a comprehensive training package sent to all newbies. Graham |

I've just started transcribing for the Scan2 syndicate and so far all of my assignments have been scanned images of typed death register indices so no problems with reading handwriting.... Also don't see any reason why you shouldn't be able to do this from overseas http://www.scan2[.]org/scan2[.]html |
