If you have a local LDS centre then they will be able to get hold of fiches/films for you. It is quite inexpensive and they hold for about a month whilst you examine them. Try looking on the M&LFHS website <http://> <www> <mlfhs> <org> <uk> - sorry GenesConnected deliberately corrupts URL's If you look in the bookshop they might have fiches of those churches available. Look in GENUKI, it should tell you where records are held. <http://> <www> <genuki> <org> <uk> <big> <eng> <LAN> <Rochdale> <#ChurchRecords> - apologies again but trying to get around the corruption of URL's <http://> <familia> <org> <uk> will tell you what records Rochdale library has but not much use if you are in Australia! You try subscribing to one of the Lancashire mailing lists like LANCSGEN at ROOTSWEB or ENG-LAN at <http://> <www> <british-genealogy> <com> - apologies again If you ask there then you might be lucky and find someone who has a copy or prepared to do a lookup for you whilst they are in the library. Leah You may find the records are at the Library in Bury, Lancashire. Alternatively, I'm sure that they will be in the central Library in Manchester - have a look at www.manchester.gov.uk/arls - this will tell which parishes they have. Good luck Jane - Leeds |

Hi Leah, FreeReg is not yet up and running unfortunately - if you scroll right down to the bottom of the page it says it's not ben updated since April 2000. (I think that's the date it gives - might be April 2002) Rosi Colchester ESS |

Could anyone tell me how far the dates of indexes on FreeREG go back to please? I have tried a number of dates namely 1850 onwards on the search and it is advising me that it is not available. Also where would the parish records for a church in Rochdale Lancs be held - Rochdale or a central (diocese) office? Thank you. Leah Australia |
