no parents on birth cert!

Judith, Was it just a 'short' certificate just showing name, date etc. You should be able to apply for a 'full' certificate which would show the full details. Elisabeth

Have obtained today the birth cert of my grandfather from my uncle. Although born in 1917 there is no mention at all of his parents. Was this normal practice for that time or would I be able to order a fuller copy (with parents) from GRO. Was planning to use cert as a stepping stone to parents wedding cert so needed names! Thanks
