I have tried the "nickname" site, but I thought it would be the other way round - so "Betsy" and then what name it could possibly stem from. Other than Elizabeth, I wouldn't know what other names to look under to find it. The only surname I have for "Betsy" is her married name which is Quinn (also been known to be spelt Quin). Any other suggestions apart from Elizabeth? Thanks to all who have already answered.

I have just taken a relative to visit a grave of her friend known as Bet, who she swears was called Betsy. When we get to the brand new headstone it is inscribed Betty! Either my Mum-in-law is wrong or the deceased's relatives/stonemason. Not much help I know, sorry. Elisabeth

I meant to say in last message that if you post her surname someone might come up with something for you. It is worth a try.

The only one I can think of is Elizabeth but you have probably thought of that one. I have also seen Betsy spelt Betsey. Maybe someone else will be able to help you more, Susan

Can anyone please suggest what names could / might be shortened to "Betsy"? I am not sure if it helps, but she was born c1854. I would be grateful for all suggestions as I can't find anything under Betsy so I have come to a dead end (one of many!!).
