Thanks Vera, Mason Gill is tiny and is near Ingleton so it should be the right one. Thanks for your help. |

Laura Have checked the registration districts on FreeBMD and the nearest one I could find was HALTON GILL in the same area as Ingleton - the registration district was SETTLE. The address is below as the registers are now in North Yorkshire. "Location North Yorkshire Address Bilton House 31 Park Parade Harrogate HG1 5AG Tel +44 (0)1423 506949 Fax +44 (0)1423 502105 Cheques payable to 'NYCC' please. When ordering from this office please make sure you quote the district. All registers from the following districts are held at this office: Richmond, Northallerton, Whitby, Scarborough, Malton, Pickering, Ryedale, Staincliffe, Skipton, Ewcross, Settle and Wensleydale, Leyburn" Hope this is the right one for you. My family with the helpful surname of Brown were born in Mason Gill, Yorks which is apparently somewhere near Ingleton. How can I find what registration district this would have been? Is there an index anywhere? |
