Yvonne Many thanks - will give it a go. I found a lot of super picies in 'the Frances Frith collection' but alas they are a little bit late - 1950/60's for what I ideally would like. Maybe for similar reasons as there not being many railway stations in the early 1800's Rosi |

Hi Rosi You might have some luck with the local newspaper of the area you are looking for. Our local paper has photos of the town and surrounding villages and photos can be ordered from them, in various sizes. Good luck. Yvonne |

Elisabeth - I spent he afternoon on Saturday in the library hunting for records and newspaper cuttings etc - but came up with nothing helpful. I wasn't looking for photographs speshly then - so maybe will have another go. Kathleen - not to worry! I had a very nice hour or so looking at some very good pictures and images - just not the ones I want right now! Have saved the site to favourites though. Rosi |

Rosi, The relevant local libraries would probably have lots of copies. Our town library has filing cabinets full of photos, filed by village and town in our local area. They are fascinating. Elisabeth |

Is there another similar site that anyone knows of? I could find very few shots of the area, (East London and Essex) that I am looking for. The presentation and efficiency of the site is/was excellent - just wish they had some pictures for me! Rosi |

Hi Kathleen - and many thanks - will give it a go. It will keep me out of mischief and stop me standing about behind the sideboard eavesdropping in/on the Members Board. Rosi |

Hallo. Some time ago there were several addresses given for sites selling old photographs of places - I have scrolled back - but cannot find the relevant message. Can anyone help? Preferably I would like to have a peek before buying - but like Certs. I suppose that would make it commercially unviable. My present interest is in Essex/East London. Rosi |
