Is st Catherine's online and can anyone tell me how I can look up Durham area online (not the census) I would like to research prior to 1880 |

I think I am right in saying that St Catherine's house was where all of the General Register Office register records used to be kept ( before that Somerset House). It is the same records on FreeBMD and 1837 online, or on the GRO indexes at your library or county record office. Margaret |

Try www.durham.gov.uk it has BMD's & the Option to purchase certificates £7 eash + p&p |
