Hi everyone, On the 1881 census it says that my ggg grandfather was 24yrs old and had a 4yr old son-in-law?! could this have meant step son in those days? Laurie

Laurie, was he the head of the household? It's all worked out on how the person is related to the head of the house Zoe

Yes laurie, I read in a genealogy book that step children were also called "in laws"
