Trying to chase two g/children, listed on 1881 census as living with William and Harriett Colwell in East Dean, Glos. (No. 54 Ruardean Hill). Sure enough they seem to have disappeared. I went to the local library to check 1891. G/parents listed as living with unmarried daughter Julia (aged 32 then) but found another g/child Lavinia aged 2. Could anyone not completely fed up with these elusive g/children check on the site for Lavinia. I think I imagined her as no birth record appears in 1837online. Please help. I've been stuck for weeks. Was Lavinia a figment? |

Hi Dorothy, Checked the 1891 Census and Lavinia was actually 'Lovinia A' living with Julia, William and Harriet. Unfortunately the page on Ancestry is bad and unreadable, but the transcription reads that Lovinia was the daughter of William and aged 2! Looked on 1837 for Lovinia's birth for 1888/1889 and no trace. Maybe she wasn't registered or registered under another name? Tracy |

Thanks Tracy for looking that up for me. Another mystery. |
