Certificates for Scotland are more expensive if you order them via the internet (£16). £13 by post telephone or fax. £11 in person. I have printed most of my copies from their website at only £1 each. Regards Margaret

Hi Kerry, I went to my local office and they said the numbers were useless to them. They need the quarter and year. Which was good cause I got all that off 1837. Laurie

Unlikely, phoned a local registry office for a cert, and they don't recognise the GRO reference, but can locate it with year and idea of quarter. Quite a quick turnaround 3 - 7 days, cost about £7 (think it varies by county)

bit of a stupid question but if you have the GRO number for a cert can you goto the reg office in question & get a copy of the cert there & then. if so what cost?
