i have just been on BMD and typed in just the surname Philbrick and check out the wives with the name Ellen and i have come up with. Ernest Hart Philbrick and Ellen Eliza Tyrrell This looks quite promising just trying now to find out more info on them to see if we have a match. Regards |

I think you are lucky in that he has a fairly unusual name, plus a middle name. I wouldnt think there would be 2 of the same name born in that year in Surrey.Also if he was mrried his marriage certificate would give his fathers name..so you would be able to match them up to make sure you had right birth. hope you understand all that. |

I would think the best place to start would be to get his birth certificate...this would have his fathers name and mothers maiden name.Then you would be able to try and find them on the census's good luck Susan |

Hi Patricia You should obtain a copy of his birth certificate and that will give you the maiden name of his mother and his fathers name and occupation. Tricia |

Hi My friend has problems getting started with tracing her family she has limited information, can u help ??? The information that she has is her Grand-dad was called Edwin Francis Philbrick he was born in 1908. His mothers name is Ellen but we dont have a maiden name and the father was a man of the cloth from Surry and we have no names. How can we go forward, do you have any resources to get us on our way Please. Any information would be most appreciated. |
