Good Place to Store Information

Most software these days will come with a self creating website facility. I know that LDS PAF does, FTM, and Family legends do. I've uploaded my family tree to LDS, Geneaology.com and ancestry.com, also have a copy on my server and on CD just incase I delete by accident! Sian

Heather, I work in IT (mantra = back up your data!) but must admit I have been a bit lax :-0 The problem at the moment is that I have documents like photos, census pages, notes on particular people and familes in word etc on my local drive (backed up on a server of course!), then certificates in a folder and then I have this tree in GC. I have thought about using Brother's Keeper or something but that is a client (sits on your PC) and what I really need is a web page to store this information so that my family can see it rather than having to email them stuff all the time. Just wondering if anyone was already doing this, otherwise I will investigate the web site building option.

are you using a family tree programme on your pc - these usually have facilities for sharing and room to put more info - its a bit dangerous to store all your info just on here - if this site went down all your info would be lost - there are few freebies on the net - the LDS site is one i believe. hevi

I'm using GC as the main tool for building my tree. However I'm finding I'm collecting so much data that the notes section for each person does not suffice and I also want to share information with my family. Can anyone recommend a good secondary site to do this or am I better off just building my own website?
