This site has only 2% of the 1851 census but is indexed. www( )compter( )org/ It is free and easy to follow. Worth a look at to see if it has any entries for your area. Hope this might be of help. Kathleen

I assume its the same one, i got mine from LDS for only £5, it seems to be OK if your family came from Devon.

stepping-stones are taking 'pre-orders' for 1851 census CDs, but there is no indication as to dates of issue

Hello Christine You can purchase the 1851 CD for the British census for Devon, Norfolk, and Warwick only, through The family history centres. There is an address which I think is in Birmingham where you can order it. It is not very expensive. I will email you the phone no to ring on Monday. and if the no is correct you could put it up on this board for everyone else. Shirley

Where did you find it, i keep ending up with the 1850 US census.

George

George Report 16 Aug 2003 18:32

I found it, but the hitch is it represents only 10% of the uk population in 1851. George

Christine, I found the site thank you, but it sounds too good to be true doesn't it? Surely it cannot be the complete census for that price, a CD is usually £30-40 per AREA? I think I will wait for reports myself. Marian

I think I'm doing something wrong here. I keep getting the website for a san francisco mortury. Will try through google. Has anybody had any successful finds on the 1851 site?
