Could anyone tell me if the above occupation would involve travelling? I have 4 possible children, 2 are born in South Africa, 1 in Canada and 1 in Weymouth, between 1855 and 1864. Thanks. |

Clare, I doubt it. Ordnance is explosives and I would think that your relative would stay in the UK. Ships and Army regiments would have their own storemen. John R. |

Thinking about it again, I suppose he could have been in the services and travelled. Not sure if he could have taked his wife everywhere on a storemans pay ! John R |

Thanks John, i believe it was to do with the Navy as he was based at Upnor by the Chatham Dockyards. |
