Hi I'm fairly new to this site and don't really know where to start. My parents divorced when I was 2 months old, other than a Decree Nisi and a Decree Absolute, I have no further information on my Birth Father. Does anyone have any advice on how to go about finding out about this side of my unknown family? Jo

Joanne you have your father's name, if you know where and when your parents married, get a copy marriage certificate which will give you both grandfathers names and occupations. Your father's age will be there too and you can then work out his birth year for his birth certificate which will give you his mother's full name. Also, from the list to the left of this board, click on General Info and the Links...lots of useful info for beginners there. good luck Sue

Thanks Sue. One quick question before I click on the Links page, will I be able to apply for a copy of the Marriage Certificate? Do I need to prove that they are related to me? Jo
