My father's grandparents came from Russia and Poland. They were given the name Taylor - a basic translation of Krawiec, meaning Tailor - their profession on arrival. Any tips on finding out more about them and going back further? Rachel |

There is a new site I believe which deals with immigrants - there was something on the BBC about it - so you might be able to get it thru their site good luck in your search she |

The site is http://www(.)movinghere(.)org(.)uk It includes not only Jewish but also Caribbean, Irish and South Asian migration. Do you know when your parents arrived in the UK and where? It might help you to narrow down your search and then make a trip to the archives in Kew worthwhile (also some passenger info on the above site). |
