Margaret This is what I think: If you have NOT asked for anything that pops up then just DELETE IT using the cross on the top right of the pop up advert. Vera Manchester

I keep getting this pop up too. I think it might be something to do with the adverts at the top of the page. Michellle

I am having the same problem! I had it constantly at one stage but it stopped after I emailed genesconnected about it--though this may have been a coincidence? I have just accessed the site to find the macromedia pop-up has come back! It is very annoying as it comes up every time I change the page, even though I keep deleting it or clicking on 'no'. Anyone got any advice?

Do you have a firewall with an ad blocker. I have and don't get any ads at all. Margaret

You are best setting a firewall as it prevents the virus going around at the minute, you can also set your privacy settings higher this will block some ads

This message is getting right up my nose, everytime I click on a new topic or change page in GC I'm getting it pop up again. Sorry to moan, but how many times to I need to tell it I don't want to download! It's just a shame it won't listen to me shouting at it!!!!! Sam

Try ignoring it. Don't click it off, but just click back onto the page you want to view. That will conceal the window, and it might not pop up again. Then just close that window when you close GC. If you keep closing it, it will just pop up again. I found that on another site, I ended up with about six different adverts, but they only came up once each, whereas when I was closing them as soon as they appeared they just kept coming up again - and again - and again. The message won't let me do anthing while it's on the screen. I can't change page or to another title. All I get is the arrow pointer with an egg timer, it does not matter how long I wait it wont't clear unless I click the cross. I have got a Firewall. Sue.

Flash player is harmless it is required to display animations on the web. I got the message at home and i think it is because of the banner at the top of the page. At work I dont get the message because i have the latest version of flash player. Unless you download it, it wont go away unfortunately. Good luck, I know it can be very annoying otherwise. Ali

Hi, I am a Web professional and the pop up you are getting is due to some of the content of this website being designed using a piece of web annimation software called macromedia flash. It is a safe download as they are the largest web development tool company like microsoft is for office applications. Some websites you will not be able to view without the player but as for this one it seems like it is just the advert at the top that uses the player so it shouldn't affect your viewing of this site. As regards the removal of the pop up, your machine will automatically see that you do not have this player and ask you if you want to install it almost everytime you view any site that uses macromedia flash. I hope this helps. If you need more info then their website can explain better than me. www.macromedia dot com

Mike, The info. you gave will NOT stop browser pop ups. The service you are shutting down is XP's Net Send and Alerter service that broadcasts advertisements through the operating system's messaging function instead. Crista
