I've discovered that my great-great grandfather was divorced in the mid 19th century, had children out of wedlock and finally married their mother in 1899. Does anyone know where I can get info on attitudes to divorce at this time and living in sin. My only reference to this is Jude the Obscure by Thomas Hardy!! |
