Hiya. A shipwright is someone who works in a shipyard building ships etc. So far as I know this was his profession all his life. Jennie would be about 10, Ellenor 12, Alice 14. Thomas and Alfred (if still at home) would have been shipwrights too or at least apprentices. Jennie (registered name) is obviously unusual for the time. I believe both East and West Ham still came under Essex until after 1901. Sorry can't be more helpful. Don't worry if you can't find!! Thanks for trying anyway. Maz. XX |

Bit puzzled as no Shipwrights showing. He was down on 1891 as born Poplar. Children would be (starting from youngest) Daisy or Emily, Jennie, Ellen/or, Alice, Annie or Emily, Beatrice, Alfred, Thomas. Don't know how many would still be at home. Wife was Sarah Ann - on 1891 as Annie - but think probably deceased. Sorry not much help. Driving me mad!! Maz. XX |

Catherine, you must be a very kind person!! If you have any credits left could you please look up Thomas Alfred Jennings a shipwright aged born in 1851 in East or West Ham which is probably Essex at that time(but could be London). He would have up to 8 kids and probably is a widower?? Anything would be great. Thanks so much in advance. Maz. XX |
