Hi - not able to help you with your quest I'm afraid - although I will try to find out if Leicestershire has a web-site which details those convicts who were deported! I'm sorry to say that whatever his fate, your grt'grandad deserved all he got and more - fancy leaving the lady to give birth in the Workhouse? I'm not amused at that just bleep bleep livid! Our ancestors sometimes are not worth investigating. Will see what I can find and get back to you. From the other side of the planet - Nottingham.. Jacqui

Hiya - could not find anything on Prison inmates 1800's Leicester but suggest you try the Leicester Records Office where they apparently have details of the Courts of Quarter Session and Petty Sessions records (and Poor Law Records - i.e. Workhouses) Just bang in Leics and Rutland Family History Society and go from there - it might be worth trying one of their members to see if they can assist. Have you thought of joining the Leics Family History Society (usually about GB£10.00 per annum and you get access to lots of info and names - especially if you family came from that area). If I find out more I'll contact you - I'll look for your response re the surname - there are lots of blagards in my family also, so we might be connected!!! Jacqui
