I am trying to trace my dads tree.He doesnt know a lot as his father died when he was 18 mnth. He doesnt know his grandparents names either.I have managed to find his mums d.o.b and d.o.d and his fathers rough d.o.b and d.o.d.Can anyone tell me the best site to go on to look this up.I need one that will show mother and fathers names on birth records etc. Any tips?

If you look on the 1837 site (Click on the links on the left) then you can look up Births Deaths and Marriages. This is good if you know the exact dates but it does cost. You can also buy the certificate online (£7 a time). If you know your grandparents names and rough ages then you can buy theie Birth certificates which will then display their parents names, occupations, and address. For a free search but with no additional information other than a date try FreeBMD (linked also on the left) Good Luck Alison
